Veeam 100 Summit Recap – Prague 2023
I’d like to first thank Rick Vanover, Madalina Cristil, Nikola Pejková, and everyone at Veeam for their efforts and support leading into my second Veeam 100 Summit. It’s a HUGE undertaking that requires many levels of coordination. This was my second time attending the event in person. It was an honour to attend such a prestigious event for the second time and meet many fellow Vanguards, Legends and MVPs in person. It is amazing how being at an event and being able to speak to others of the same mindset makes you feel great. As for the host city of Prague, it never fails.
Day 1 included a Welcome Reception hosted by Object First.
A big thanks to Kevin Allan and Probax for sponsoring our Go Kart event earlier in the day! It’s safe to assume everyone thoroughly enjoyed this experience! However, we did have one minor mishap during racing, as Thiago Dos Santos Nunes decided to crash into a wall and ended up like this.
The Kasten workshop was once again held on Monday afternoon for those who signed up to attend with Michael Cade.
Day 2 was the official kickoff for the Veeam 100 Summit. Rick, Madalina, Safiya and Nikola started the day with a presentation in which we learned more about the various Community groups that comprise the Veeam 100 Community. If you’re not familiar with each community, I have provided a link and/or description for each below:
- Veeam Vanguard – The Veeam Vanguard Program is Veeam’s top-level influencer community. This group shares points of view, provides feedback and is committed to mutual success. Experts in the Vanguard program are a combination of many different disciplines, contribution types, and advocacy mechanisms. Yet, they are each the best regarding technical thought leadership for the technical communities in which Veeam exists. These individuals have been nominated as Veeam Vanguards. A Veeam Vanguard represents our brand to the highest level in many technology communities we engage. These individuals are chosen for their acumen, engagement and style in their activities on and offline.
- Veeam Legend – Veeam Legends are Veeam users and data protection industry experts passionate about technology and innovation and eager to further develop their careers while sharing their experiences with the community. As avid Veeam users, they participate in various community projects, drive local Veeam User Groups and can also influence the development of Veeam products and solutions — they have a tangible impact within the community! Apart from that, Veeam Legends are always eager to help their peers and get connected with other community members.
- Veeam MVP – this group includes top Veeam employees with a customer-facing technical role who share and engage when it is not part of their job. This program is ONLY available to Veeam employees.
The program even got a big Thank You from Veeam and was mentioned in recent socials and media.
We then hear from our sponsors of the event, both Object First and Wasabi.
Next on the agenda was the topic of the 12.1 release coming in Q4 of 2023. There are many enhancements coming to the VBR Suite:
- Inline Malware scanning
- Suspicious Activity Detection
- Veeam Incident API
- Four-eyes Authorization
- KMS Integration with KMIP
- SIEM & Syslog Integration
- Configuration Backup on Immutable Storage
- Veeam AI Assistant in the Console
- And the list goes on
We then talk about some new enhancements coming to Veeam Recovery Orchestrator v7.
We concluded the first day with the annual Veeam 100 toast given by Craig Dalrymple and concluded the evening with the Wasabi Poker Night.
The eventual poker winners –
Day 3 started off with a look into Veeam ONE 12.1 and was followed up by the new Cirrus offering from Veeam. We then went into some new features for Veeam VB365, including a sneak peek into v8, and after lunch, there was the anticipated VCSP Tech Summit session for those who are Service Providers and invited to the exclusive event. We then looked at some Veeam Backup for Salesforce and finished up the 12.1 content. We concluded the day with sessions on Ransomware PoV with Rick Vanover and Edwin Weijdema and concluded with some news on a new release of Kasten.
The evening ended with the Veeam 100 Closing Party, which took place at Opero. They even had a photo booth for pictures!
Day 3 finished with the Veeam Backup for Public Clouds and the super secret “Ask Me Anything (Code RED)” session with Veeam employees.

It was a great time catching up with everyone I had already met in person at VeeamON 2023 and previously at the V100 Summit in 2022. It was now time to wind down for an early morning flight back home on Friday.

And to finish it all off, here are a few wonderful pictures of Prague that I could take during the trip. Such a beautiful city and architecture. Walking is the best way to see the sites and visit places for a drink or food.
